Let your Ambitions Lead
There are no unmotivated leaders. Within RULE your character is built upon your ambition, a major goal that you seek to achieve over the course of the game.
You may be working to build up a trade empire, controlling the lifeblood of commerce in the kingdom. You could seek to lead a revolution against the nobility that holds the lower classes in servitude. Perhaps your ambition lies with a crown and kingdom of your own? Or you might heed the call to prepare this world for your sleeping god’s awakening.
Wherever your ambition lies, RULE gives you the tools to achieve it.
A Kingdom on the Brink of War
It has been over a decade since the last war between the proud old Kingdom of Athilia and the indoctrinated legions of the Moranthian Empire. The ruthless and crafty young king of Athilia, Tiberion Osher the Third, laid siege to the fortress at Storm’s Perch for two years before being forced to make peace with the Emperor. The tallest fortress in the known world was impenetrable. Unassailable. The war, like the last great wars between the powers, ended in a draw at the cost of countless lives.
Now, the fortress is gone.
A magical cataclysm has laid the great fortress low, and not even the brilliant mages of the Arcanis Tallorum know why or how. A new weapon to rival the gods? A strange, magical accident? All that is known is that this disaster heralds the start of a new bloody war.

The northern lords have seized the moment and declared independence from Athilia, naming Lord Berric Carval as King of the free mountain realm of Alatas. The now seasoned King Tiberion III marshals his forces to put down this rebel uprising before the Empire can make its move.
Watching the chaos unfold are the Dwarven Houses. They cross the Sunsea on sail-less ships belching black smoke and offer wondrous innovations and assistance to lords great and small in exchange for mere signatures on contracts. Beneath their well-braided beards and affable smiles, they hide hearts of coal and steel.
But for you all, denizens of the quiet Duchy of Tanalin, that trouble seems distant. The realm is far to the southern marches of the kingdom, often overlooked by the proud lords up north, and quite happy to be forgotten in such tumultuous times. No one would guess that a few ambitious meddlers in this backwater will shape the future of the realm, for better or worse.
